On our way to the Lava Tube
About to enter the Lava Tube
Can you see the crater and steam vent to the left?
Look at these two happy guys :)
I'm a lucky lady!!
Awesome steam vent
My family :)
Pele's Hair - thin, fragile strands of volcanic glass.
They form when molten lava is ejected into the air during an eruption.
Pele's Tears - solidified droplets of lava that form during an eruption.
Tears can sometimes be found attached to the end of a strand of Pele's hair.
Pic of Pahoehoe and A'a Lava. The pahoehoe (smooth) lava forms when the viscosity
of the lava has low gas bubbles and is at a high temperature, and when the eruption rate, steepness of ground are low. Just the opposite conditions form a'a (fragmented and rouh lava).
At one of the visitor museams.
Aliyah getting a ride on Raul's shoulders.
Eating lunch. Aliyah got the best seat ;)
